Thule are makers of vehicle roof racks, boxes and carriers that help you transport things safely, easily and in style. Thule is a well known brand; you’ve no doubt seen one or two of their products cruising by you on the road.
Thule New Zealand’s website needed to be functional and informative for two main groups of people: everyday consumers looking for Thule products across the entire stocked range, most notably Roof racks and bike carriers. And also retailers of Thule products who need in-store support to match the right Thule product to their customer’s requirements.
We aimed to provide Thule with a website that drives product sale through retailers by giving them a tool that makes it easy for them to recommend the right product and for everyday consumers to identify what they needed and then find a retailer which stocks that desired product.
User experience was a key challenge for this project. We wanted to bring forward the product browsing experience so it’s easy for users to find what they are looking for, allowing users to input their vehicle specifications in order to be shown the right fit product.
The solution begins on the homepage. Right away customers can search for products with an easy to use product search bar. Relevant products are automatically shown based on what the customer has inputted.
We also developed the ‘Fit my car’ tool (by far the most viewed page on this website). Users input their car make, model, year and model variant in order to find a roof rack solution for their car. This has proved hugely popular and successful for both key audiences with positive feedback coming back from both camps.
